If talks between Nottingham Forest and Paul Heckingbottom do not move forward today, then they will not move forward at all, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Last week, it looked as if Heckingbottom had moved into poll position for the top job at the City Ground but Forest are yet to make a formal approach.
Caretaker manager Gary Brazil staked his claim to get the job full time in some style by knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup on Sunday, dominating Arsene Wenger’s side and securing a 4-2 victory.
That might be why the prospect of Heckingbottom getting the top job has run a bit cold but it does seem bizarre that no formal approach has yet been made.
If it were not for Brazil engineering an excellent victory over Arsenal and inspiring Forest’s young side to a famous victory, the lack of movement for Heckingbottom would be of real concern.
However, Brazil may just have moved himself into poll position for the job on a full time basis with that win and that is why Forest have stalled on the Barnsley manager.
