Phil Hay has backed Leeds United to sign Kyle Bartley this summer, as long as the Sky Bet Championship outfit pay Swansea Cityâs asking price. Â
The Yorkshire Evening Post revealed last month that Leeds were chasing a deal to sign Bartley permanently this summer, as they look to reshape Paul Heckingbottomâs playing squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Bartley is keen to return to Elland Road, with the YEPâs Hay suggesting on Twitter that Leeds will get their man if they offer enough money.
Interest is also coming from Rangers for Bartley, but the reliable journalist has suggested that unless the Ibrox club tempt him with a better offer, he could well be returning to Elland Road in a deal between £3m and £4m.
Bartley spent the 2016/17 campaign on-loan at Elland Road under Garry Monk, with the centre-back proving to be influential as Leeds challenged for the play-offs.
The 27-year-old made 50 appearances across all competitions for Leeds, scoring six goals and impressing enough to earn a chance with his parent-club, Swansea.
Injuries plagued Bartleyâs 2017/18 campaign, with the defender making just 12 appearances for the Swans.
The Verdict
Everything seems set-up perfectly for Bartley to return to Leeds this summer, with Hayâs update extremely encouraging for the Whites.
The only thing that could potentially scupper a deal is Leeds not meeting Swanseaâs asking price, which the club simply canât afford to do.
Bringing Bartley back will be a major statement and help Leeds get some supporters back on board following a dismal 2017/18 campaign.
