According to BBC Radio Sheffield’s Jonathan Buchan, Barnsley are interested in signing Matt Mills from Nottingham Forest this month, with the journalist confirming that their interest in the defender is legit.
The 31-year-old has a wealth of experience in English football, and is currently a part of Aitor Karanka’s squad at the City Ground, where he has just six months remaining on his current deal.
The central defender has featured on 15 occasions across all competitions for Forest this season, but with Joe Worrall and Michael Mancienne ahead of him in the pecking order, he has had to be patient for opportunities.
Understand #barnsleyfc interest in Matt Mills is legit, his arrival would hinge on departure of MacDonald, #HCAFC made offer for him. I believe the two CB's share the same agent which makes things easier.
Ephestion also set to arrive on perm from RC Lens.

Barnsley are interested in offering the defender a route out for Nottingham, with a move across the Sky Bet Championship to Oakwell.
Paul Heckingbottom is keen to add Mills to his squad, who are battling to move away from the relegation zone in the Championship.
The Tykes currently sit 19th in the table, but are hovering just two points above the bottom-three after 28 fixtures of the season.
It is understood that any deal for Mills would hinge on Angus MacDonald’s departure, with Hull City interested in signing the defender.
Mills has really struggled for consistency in a Forest shirt, and a move away from the City Ground could be perfect for the 31-year-old.
At Barnsley the defender would have an opportunity to put his career back on track with a regular run of games.
For Heckingbottom it would feel like a major coup, even if it was likely to involve MacDonald’s departure.
