Harry Redknapp is to hold more talks with Crystal Palace target Steven Caulker in the hope of persuading the Cardiff City defender to join Queens Park Rangers, writes London24.com.
The Hoops have agreed a fee with Cardiff for the defender, whilst Palace are also in the race to sign the former Tottenham man.
The 22-year-old is yet to make a decision on his future and Redknapp is hoping the opportunity to play with Rio Ferdinand will convince Caulker to join him at QPR.
The Hoops boss told the Daily Telegraph:
“Hopefully we can move things along with Caulker and we can have talks later this week.
“The prospect of playing with Rio Ferdinand in the centre of defence is something that will appeal to the lad. He’s a young player and he can only improve playing alongside somebody as experienced as Rio.
“If you look at Gary Cahill, he has improved massively playing with John Terry and I believe Rio can do the same for Caulker. That’s a deal we would really like to get done.”
Former Manchester United and England captain Ferdinand is expected to sign a one-year deal with the West London club.
