Coventry City forward Maxime Biamou has revealed that during his time on the sidelines with injury, he took tips from Manchester United winger Anthony Martial on how to improve his displays at League One level.

The 28-year-old missed a year of action due to an ACL injury which he suffered at the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

Since making his return to first-team football in Coventry's 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers in August, Biamou has illustrated some real signs of promise for his side.

Having fired in four goals for the Sky Blues in all competitions before last Saturday's clash with Ipswich Town, the forward added to his tally in this particular showdown at St Andrew's.

Biamou's latest strike for Coventry secured a point against the Tractor Boys which kept the club within touching distance of the automatic promotion places in League One.

With Coventry set to take on Ipswich tonight in a FA Cup second round replay, the Frenchman will be determined to lead his side to victory at Portman Road.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph about his relationship with Martial, Biamou said: "Sometimes I go to Manchester United because I know Anthony Martial, and I'm just watching his movement and his attributes.

"Anthony has passed on some tips.

"His brother [Panetolikos defender Johan Martial] is my best friend so sometimes when I've got a day off I can go and watch the games.

"I have known him and his brother for a long time and if I ever want to go to Old Trafford I ask my friend and I speak to Anthony after the games.

"I try to learn from him.

"He has tried to help me with that and I am happy for that."

The Verdict

Given that Biamou and Martial operate in similar positions, the Coventry star could benefit considerably from the Manchester United man's knowledge.

Providing that he continues to study Martial's movement and guile, the former Sutton United forward may end up making drastic improvements to his game which in turn will help the Sky Blues in their quest to secure a top-six finish this season.

Unquestionably talented, Biamou may end up becoming a key player for Coventry over the coming months if he can maintain his consistency in League One.
