A number of Premier League and Championship scouts are monitoring the progress of Crawley Town's Beryly Lubala, the Daily Mail have reported.

Lubala only left Birmingham City earlier this summer, despite being offered a new contract at St Andrew's, making the move to Crawley before the start of this season.

The 21-year-old has hit the ground running for the League Two side, scoring six goals in eight league games for his new club, while also netting the winner in Crawley's 1-0 win over Premier League Norwich City in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

It is thought that that eye for goals, along with his pace in the wide areas, has attracted the attention of a number of sides further up the football pyramid, with scouts from Premier League and Championship clubs monitoring his progress.

Crawley currently sit eighth in League Two following a 1-0 win over Mansfield Town on a Saturday, a game in which Lubala missed a penalty before going on to score the winner.

Lubala's move to Crawley saw him sign a two-year contract at the Broadfield Stadium, securing his future at the club until the summer of 2021.

The Verdict

I think this is just reward for the risk Lubala took in leaving Birmingham.

It would have been quite easy for the attacker to remain at St Andrew's on a potentially higher wage and in a stronger division, but without too many opportunities for game time.

Instead his decision to back himself has seen him become one of the most impressive performers in League Two this season, and it is little surprise that that has led to the interest that it has.

Given the maturity that he showed in backing himself to get more regular football elsewhere this season when leaving Birmingham, I think Lubala will be just as sensible when it comes to deciding what to do with any potential offers that may come his way as a result of this interest.
