It is going to be a very busy and important summer for Leeds United as they look to make the necessary tweaks to help Marcelo Bielsa's side win promotion.

Whilst fans will be excited about potential incomings, they know that departures are needed too in order to free up space in the squad and to reduce the wage bill.

And, it seems as though several players are set to be on the move, with the Yorkshire Evening Post revealing that Yosuke Ideguchi and Laurens De Bock are two who are no longer needed.

Most fans would agree that they don't have a future at Elland Road and would support the decision to sell the pair.

However, the fact the two signings from January 2018 haven't worked out should also be concerning, with director of football Victor Orta the man who brought the duo to Yorkshire still playing an important role when it comes to transfers.

They arrived with decent pedigree, with De Bock a proven player in the Belgian top-flight and Ideguchi is a Japanese international, yet neither made an impact in the Championship.

That simply can't happen again, with new arrivals needed to make an instant impact.

The noises from the club show that big money isn't going to be spent, so it's about Leeds being smart when it comes to new signings and whilst Orta isn't the only man involved in recruitment, he has a big role to play.

Bielsa's magnificent work with the Whites means that they will begin the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion but added squad depth is desperately needed if they are to sustain a challenge over the entire season.

Even though the signings last summer made more of an impression at Elland Road, they still haven't always convinced, so there will be a lot of pressure on Orta in the coming months.

Bielsa has proven himself to be a brilliant manager that is capable of taking Leeds back to the top but it's now down to Orta and the recruitment team to ensure he has the squad to do just that.
