With the summer transfer now closed for clubs up and down the Championship, fans across the country will be sitting back, taking stock of their clubs business and assessing how the deals done, and in some cases not done, will impact on the season ahead.

Despite the departures of defender Pontus Jansson and striker Kemar Roofe, you feel that Leeds fans themselves certainly have something to smile about following the close of the transfer window, thanks in no small part to the man who has been brought in to help lead the line in place of Roofe for the coming campaign.

They may have had to see off strong interest from Bristol City and wait until the final day of the transfer window to get the deal over the line, but the loan signing of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is one that should have Leeds fans brimming with confidence about their hopes of a push for a return to the Premier League next season.

Indeed, should they need any excuse to increase their optimism as the season gets into full swing, they need only look at the comments from Nketiah's current, permanent, manager.

Speaking to Football London over the course of the weekend, Gunners boss Unai Emery admitted that he had been reluctant to sanction Nketiah's temporary move to the Championship this season, as he had planned to use the 20-year-old regularly for Arsenal this season.

That feels like a hugely encouraging reflection for Leeds fans of the player they have got on their hands.

If Arsenal - a team expected to challenge for a Champions League place and silverware this season - and Emery - a manager with plenty of trophy-winning experience himself - were so keen to use Nketiah for themselves this season, then Leeds fans will surely be rubbing their hands at the prospect of having a striker capable of playing at that level helping them to push for promotion this season.

Given the concern that losing a striker with the sort of influence that Roofe showed he could have last season would have generated amongst the Leeds faithful following his departure to Anderlecht, the revelation of Emery's plans for Nketiah should go some way to easing those worries around Elland Road.

You also feel that it will have helped Nketiah win round those Elland Road natives before he has even had the chance to play in front of them.

The fact that he has been willing to drop down a division, and turn down the opportunity of regular football with a club the size of Arsenal in the process, feels like an indicator of the commitment he will have to the Leeds this season, while also emphasising the desire he so clearly has to prove a point that he is worthy of a starting position week in week out upon his return to the Emirates Stadium next summer.

It now looks as though Leeds are set to be the ones to benefit from both Nketiah's apparent ability and dedication this season. If that proves to be as fruitful in reality as it appears on paper, then Leeds fans will surely be confident that they have found a striker who could be capable of finally leading their side back to the promised land of the Premier League, even if it seems there is no way his parent club will allow him to return to Elland Road once that job is done.
