Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways when they make the trip to face Championship table-toppers West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

Bowyer will have to do without midfielder Jonny Williams though, after the 26-year-old had knee surgery in the week that will keep him on the sidelines for up to two months, as confirmed on the club website.

With Williams out ,Bowyer will need to decide who to bring in to replace the Welsh international and may turn to 28-year-old Erhun Otzumer who has only managed three appearances so far this season.

So should Oztumer start for Charlton now Williams is injured?

We discuss.........

Louie Chandler

"I think he is the most natural replacement.

"Both Oztumer and Williams have always played in that hole behind the strikers and both have thrived so I think it is the logical decision for Bowyer.

"However, he is yet to convince during his time with Charlton so the manager will definitely have a decision to make.

"Perhaps a change of shape may tickle his fancy a bit more although I still believe maintaining their current set up is the way to go."

Dean Cooke

"It's an interesting one this, as so far at Charlton Lee Bowyer hasn't given Erhun Oztumer a proper run in the side, and that has left him making just three appearances for the Addicks.

"However, there may be hope for the 28-year-old as Sam Field also picked up an injury meaning there may be a midfield re-jig. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Josh Cullen come into a deeper role where Field was playing, then Gallagher back into the central-midfield role which could see Oztumer take up a position behind the two strikers.

"Bowyer is very specific though at what he wants to do for each match, and that's what makes him one of the best managers in the league. He adapts to what the other team is doing, and that could see Oztumer feature in little phases for the Addicks.

"It is a massive blow that Williams is out, but Oztumer deserves a chance, and he'll most likely get it over this next two months, so when he does he has to take it."

"He surely deserves a chance to showcase his talent in the Championship once again.

"Oztumer struggled to find his best form in the Championship with Bolton last term, but this could be the perfect opportunity to showcase his talent.

"He’s yet to register a goal or assist in Charlton’s league campaign, but with Jonny Williams out injured, he could get a consistent run in the starting XI, which is exactly what the midfielder needs to recapture his best form.

"Williams has often provided the creative spark for the Lee Bowyer’s side this season, so Oztumer will have big shoes to fill, but he’s shown glimpses of his quality on the ball in the past to prove to me that he’s good enough to replace Williams in the starting XI.

"It’s a chance for him to provide Lee Bowyer with a welcome selection dilemma for the remainder of the season, even when Williams does return."
