After a slow start in front of goal, Brentford have seemingly found their feet in recent weeks, with the Bees having scored 12 goals in their last five games, including three in an impressive away performance at high-flying Swansea.

The upturn in form will have no doubt pleased Bees boss Thomas Frank, with the west London side also tasting victory in the local derby over neighbours QPR.

Much of the Griffin Park outfit's goal scoring exploits have been due in large parts to the form shown by winger come striker Ollie Watkins, who has led the line to great effect for the Bees this term, scoring 10 goals so far.

The former Exeter City man will soon be receiving some extra support up top, with Halil Dervisoglu set to arrive in January, after agreeing a move from Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam this August.

The 19-year-old Turk has scored 15 goals and assisted a further 12 for the Dutch Eredivisie outfit, meaning that Brentford have seemingly secured something of a coup after winning the race for his signature.

However, it seems that Dervisoglu is already of interest to other parties, with reports from Takvim via Sport Witness surfacing in recent days that the young striker is a target for Turkish giants Fenerbahce who are allegedly looking to take the 19-year-old on loan.

With Fener currently sitting second in the Turkish Super League, the Istanbul outfit will surely be keen to strengthen their existing squad ahead of a title charge.

The Verdict

Ultimately these rumours can only be considered to be hearsay at the time of writing, with Dervisoglu yet to even arrive in west London, I believe these Fenerbahce links should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The player is obviously of Turkish nationality, so it is an easy link to make between the two, and I fully expect the 19-year-old to be turning out for the Bees this season.

He will be a welcome addition to Frank's squad, as the Griffin Park outfit seek to resurrect their ambitions of making the play-offs this term after what has been an inconsistent start to the campaign.

Brentford will be keen to continue their recent upturn in form when they take on a rejuvenated Reading side after the international break ceases.
