West Brom are confident that they will be able to cope with the potential loss of Grady Diangana if West Ham decide to recall the winger in January.

The England U21 international has been one of the standout players in the Championship this season, contributing four goals and five assists to help the Baggies to the top two.

His form has prompted fears at The Hawthorns that the Hammers could trigger a clause to take Diangana back in January and the Express & Star confirmed that key figures at the Premier League think they should bring him back.

Importantly though, boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen on letting the player stay at West Brom for the season but he is under serious pressure and if he is sacked it could change things significantly.

Either way, the report adds that Albion believe they will be able to cope whatever happens, with replacements already lined up. They also claim that Slaven Bilic could make a few tactical tweaks if he loses the 21-year-old.

Albion suffered in January last season when the influential Harvey Barnes was recalled by Leicester after a superb start to the season.

The verdict

Diangana has been brilliant for West Brom and it really is a surprise that West Ham are even weighing up bringing him back as he would be an upgrade on what they have right now.

Obviously, that's great for Albion and they will be hoping he stays but the fans will be pleased to see the club have other options.

The Barnes experience from earlier this year will have shown the club just how important it is to find a proper alternative and it will be interesting to see what happens.
