Charlton Athletic chairman Matt Southall has provided the club's fanbase with a welcome boost by claiming there are "deals pending" as the transfer window reaches its midway point.

The Addicks were yesterday dealt a significant blow with the news that Conor Gallagher had been recalled by parent club Chelsea, but it now appears the club is working hard to secure transfer additions as they aim to replace the 19-year-old.

Charlton look set to be active during the remainder of the transfer window, particularly given their recent takeover by East Street Investments, and it now seems the South London side are close to getting some deals over the line before the deadline.

It emerged earlier this week that Charlton are in talks with Peterborough midfielder Marcus Maddison after agreeing a fee with the League One club, while Lee Bowyer has also confirmed he has held "positive talks" regarding his contract at The Valley.

Southall has now taken to Twitter to hint that deals are on the way:

Plenty of Charlton supporters responded to the message by praising Southall for his communication with the fans, while others took the opportunity to urge the chairman to complete the deals as soon as possible.
