There are more injury issues at Elland Road, with the captain joining a growing list of players sitting out, and a sense of de ja vu after multiple frustrating injuries last year for the Whites.

More injuries have hit the Leeds squad this season with Pablo Hernandez sitting out the last two games. He has now been joined by Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton with the club confirming both will be out for the coming weeks.

Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts are back involved with the first team, both appearing off the bench on Tuesday night. However, the injury of Liam Cooper is particularly worrying at this stage.

Adam Forshaw, should he pass the required fitness level, would be expected to naturally replace Shackleton at the weekend but question marks over who will fill in for Cooper are still there.

Cooper and Ben White have struck quite the partnership this season and have on the most part looked a formidable team at the heart of the Leeds defence, complimenting each other with their differing abilities.

Gaetano Berardi, Luke Ayling and Pascal Struijk are amongst the names being thrown about as potential replacements for Cooper. Even Phillips has the ability to drop into central defence, although his role in anchoring the midfield is too key to the squad.

Leeds fans have been making their suggestions on who should replace Cooper on Twitter, here is some of their reaction...
