Quoted by Football Insider, former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has revealed that he feels Mohamed Sankoh should join Everton over other potential suitors as the young attacker continues to attract strong interest.
The young Stoke City man might not be old enough to drive a car legally in this country yet, but he is seeing plenty of big clubs in the UK take a closer look at him.
Indeed, the report refers to the fact that the likes of Everton, Celtic and Spurs are all taking a keen interest in him and Phillips has explained why Everton might well hold an advantage in the race to get him.
The former striker identified the Blues’ great academy as a source for temptation for Sankoh, saying:
“I would have to say, Everton.
“You are at a Premier League club.
“They have always had a good academy and a good youth system. My lad has played against them many times and they usually get beaten.
“They get some very good young players there and quite a few of them have gone through into the first team.
“If he can get to Everton, I think that would be the best place for him.”
Certainly, Everton have a very good academy at the moment and have shown in recent years that they are willing to blood youth in the first team and give them a crack of the whip.
Carlo Ancelotti has been brought in to bring success in the short-term but, at the same time, he’ll also want to bring in the best young players to get Everton back near the top of the league for a longer duration.
If Sankoh buys into that, he could well become a Blue.
