Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani decided to award some of his key players with improved contracts to prevent unrest in the dressing room, according to Football Insider.

The trio of Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas all signed new long-term contract extensions earlier this month, while it has been reported that Mateusz Klich and Luke Ayling are both close to finalising new deals of their own.

According to Football Insider, Radrizzani was keen to reward his key senior players with new and improved contracts to prevent unrest in the dressing room.

It was reported earlier this summer that Leeds striker Patrick Bamford and goalkeeper Kiko Casillia are on lucrative contracts worth around £40,000-a-week.

Radrizzani decided to reward his other key players with improved contracts and a significant increase to their wages in order to prevent any unrest and jealously in the dressing room.

Leeds have made a encouraging start to the new season and are currently fourth in the Championship table, although they are without a win in three of their last four league matches.

The Verdict

This seems like a sensible decision from Radrizzani. The last thing that Leeds want is any sort of unrest or jealously in the dressing room and this is a good way to stop that imbalance in terms of the gap in player wages.

It also sends a message to the other players in the team and gives them an extra incentive that if they're able to put the performances in on the pitch, their hard work will be recognised.

Not only that, but it shows good ambition from the club and that they're determined to keep hold of their best players.
