Millwall have announced that James Meredith has left the club, after agreeing with the player to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

Meredith joined Millwall from Bradford City in the summer of 2017, and started every league game of his debut campaign with the Lions, helping them to an eighth-place finish in their first season back in the Championship following promotion from League One.

In the aftermath of that impressive campaign, Meredith was handed a new long term contract at The Den last summer, but made less of an impact at the club last season, making 36 appearances as Neil Harris' side finished just one place and four points above the Championship relegation zone.

Having since failed to feature in pre-season, and after not being given a squad number this summer, Meredith's time at The Den is now over following the confirmation that his contract with the club has been terminated.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Meredith's departure, a number of Millwall fans lamented the defender's loss of form last season, with others discussing where his departure leaves the club.

Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
