Charlton Athletic have signed midfielder Josh Cullen from Premier League side West Ham United on a season-long loan, as confirmed on the Hammers' website.

Cullen, 22, has made nine appearances for the Hammers since his debut in 2015, he has since had two loan spells with Bradford City and spent part of last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers.

So is this a good signing for the Addicks?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Cullen is a talented boy and was in the Championship last season. Lee Bowyer will be delighted.

Plus, as a similar type of player from a similar background, he might be able to advise the youngster of what to do and, of course, what not to do.

It’s a match made in heaven for all concerned.

George Dagless

Yes.

Charlton need players and in Cullen they have a very good one potentially.

The Addicks are finding it tough at the moment for a number of reasons but Cullen should add to things.

Jay Williams

This is a superb signing for a League One club.

Two years ago, Cullen was bossing the midfield for Bradford in that division and Manuel Pellegrini was impressed with the youngster enough to block a permanent exit.

The Republic of Ireland youth international offers work rate, tackling ability and a range of passes to get the ball moving forward.

I am not sure why Championship clubs have overlooked this signing.

Jay Taylor

Quality signing for the Addicks.

Josh Cullen could have arguably made a loan move to the Championship so his move to League One is a little surprising.

He was very good during his loan spell at Bradford a couple of seasons ago and Charlton have a player that will know the level and being in London, take no time to settle in.

Really good business from a club in disarray.
