Plenty of Portsmouth fans have reacted to a message from new signing John Marquis on social media.

The 26-year-old completed his move Pompey from League One rivals Doncaster Rovers yesterday, signing a three-year deal at Fratton Park for an undisclosed fee.

Marquis has established a reputation as being one of the best strikers outside of the top two divisions over the past few seasons and scored 26 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions last term, helping Doncaster reach the League One play-offs.

The centre-forward scored two goals in six appearances for Portsmouth during a brief loan spell at Fratton Park in 2013/14.

After his move was confirmed, Marquis posted a message to Portsmouth fans on social media, expressing his joy at returning to Fratton Park and adding that he cannot wait to score goals for Pompey this season.

Portsmouth will be hoping to challenge for promotion again this season, after just missing out last term.

Kenny Jackett's side finished fourth in the League One table last season and lost to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals, although they did lift the Checkatrade Trophy at Wembley.

Marquis could make his first appearance for Portsmouth since returning to the club against Shrewsbury Town on the opening day of the new season this weekend.

Plenty of Pompey fans were quick to welcome the striker back to Fratton Park by replying to his message on social media and expressed their excitement at the prospect of him scoring goals for the team this season.
