An excellent start to the division following their promotion, Sheffield United fans had begun to believe that the impossible was very much on the cards.

Chris Wilder’s men had kept pace with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the top of the table for the majority of the campaign, and had shown serious signs of challenging for a place in the top-two this season.

A minor blip has struck the club, with the Blades winless in three following Saturday’s defeat to Millwall at The Den, which has seen them fall seven points off the pace at the top of the division, with Wolves possessing a game in hand over their rivals at the top.

The gap could be as big as ten points following the current round of fixtures, showing just how difficult promotion will be for teams this semester.

Wolves and Cardiff City are beginning to show signs of running away with the division, and Wilder will know his side must end their rut soon if they are to remain in contention for an automatic spot.
