It was a good night for Sunderland in the battle for automatic promotion from League One on Wednesday, as they beat Accrington Stanley 2-0 at The Wham Stadium.

After a goalless first half, a debut goal from Ross Stewart, and Charlie Wyke's 27th of the season sealed all three points for Sunderland in the second half, making it nine wins in ten from all competitions for the Black Cats.

Thanks to that run, Sunderland are now third in the League One table, five points behind league leaders Hull City but with two games in hand, as they target promotion back to the Championship.

Perhaps not surprisingly therefore, plenty of Sunderland fans were delighted as they took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the game, and one player who came in for a considerable amount of praise, was  Carl Winchester.

The midfielder, a January signing from Forest Green, continued his progress as a Sunderland player in the centre of the park with an impressive performance that saw him help Lee Johnson's side to control the game, ultimately seeing it out for another big win.

That is something that did not go unnoticed amongst the Sunderland fanbase, and here, we take a look at what some of those Black Cats fans had to say about the 27-year-old's latest performance.
