Reading have had a superb run of form over the last month, and are now unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions and find themselves moving up the Championship table.

Mark Bowen has taken over the club and pulled the squad closer together as they look much harder to beat. Players such as Ovie Ejaria and John Swift are showcasing their talent, whilst Chris Gunter and Tyler Blackett are two who have been brought back in for the defensive structure.

This rise in form shows there is no urgent need for the Royals to spend big money over the January window and they don't have to feel inclined to do so. Often, there is a lot of fan pressure during transfer windows but Reading don't need to urgently add to their side.

In fact, the Royals are just starting to get into their groove in the league and should not risk upsetting the current starting XI. Obviously, things can change and if a player in the first XI leaves, then they may well need replacing.

Alongside the squad that they've got at the moment, Reading also have players coming back from injury that can provide a high level of quality to the first-team. Andy Yiadom is set to return at the end of January whilst George Puscas could be available the weekend's clash with Nottingham Forest.

This transfer window isn't one that Reading should target, and instead they should guarantee that they have their key players available for the long run-in that could result in the Royals pushing hard for a place in the Championship play-offs.

Bowen will have his eye on the top six, and know that with the squad available to him, it's more than achievable if they continue to play the way that they are doing.
