Championship side Reading are set to return with a bid for Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson, according to Get Reading.

Leeds and Reading have had bids rejected for Donaldson

The 31-year-old signed for the Blue last summer on a free transfer from Brentford after scoring 17 goals with the Bees in League One the year before. Despite the Bees being promoted, he snubbed a new contract and left Griffin Park.

He’s been subject to two bids from Leeds United and Reading, who are both looking to add to their strike force this summer.

The Royals made a bid of £500,000 for him last week after he scored 16 times last season – he scored the winning goal against Reading in April at the Madejski Stadium in a 1-0 win.

Gary Rowett rejected the bid, but Reading are going to return with another bid.

They confirmed the arrival of Donaldson’s potential new strike partner on Monday as Orlando Sa arrived for a fee of £1 million, signing a three-year deal.
