Reading striker Yann Kermorgant says his lack of Premier League football with Bournemouth is the most disappointing part of his career to take.

The Royals forward was forced to sign for Reading for around £500,000 in January due to a distinct lack of first team football at Bournemouth, despite helping them up to promotion the year before.

Despite being a real fans favourite at the club, he only came by seven appearances in the Premier League before joining the club.

Since signing the dotted line he's made 14 appearances at the Madjeski Stadium and has scored two goals - against former club Charlton - and has made three assists.

The Frenchmen says he lost all confidence after his lack of Premier League football and hopes to be in better form next season.

He told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: “I have had a tricky season because I had a really, really good season in the Championship with Bournemouth and got promoted but I was not really given a chance in the Premier League.

“For me, it was a big disappointment, maybe the biggest in my football career because I felt like I deserved it with what I’d done for them but it didn’t happen.

“Then, I signed for Reading and you need to get back the confidence you have lost in the first six months.

“Maybe that’s why I lacked confidence. I needed a few goals straightaway which didn’t come.

“After, you put pressure on yourself thinking ‘I have to score because they signed me for scoring goals’.

“You try to and when in one game you get four headers and two saved off the line, you think ‘what more can I do?’

“I’m sure that happens to every striker.”

Reading have endured a torrid season this year and will hope for a more convincing season next year.
