Reading captain Liam Moore has been quick to heap praise on the shoulders of young midfielder Michael Olise, after the 18-year-old produced an eye catching display for the Royals in their recent score draw against Nottingham Forest.

The youngster broke through to the club's first team back in the 2018/2019 campaign as he was afforded four Championship appearances after impressing for the club's youth side.

This has in turn put the teenager in first team contention in  the current season, thus leading to the box to box midfielder making a total of seven first team appearances in all competitions this term, putting in a series of bright performances that have clearly made an impression on his manager.

His showings have also gone down well with his teammates, with Moore telling Get Reading about how highly he and his peers regard their young teammate:

"In training recently, he's been showing great signs of progression.

"He's very blessed with the ball at his feet, he can make things happen.

"On the pitch, his workrate is brilliant."

Olise will be seeking to make yet another positive impact later tonight when the Royals play host to play-off chasers Bristol City at the Madejski Stadium.

The Verdict

The teenager has gradually continued to develop his overall game as the weeks and months go by and surely isn't too far away from being a real competitor for a starting place under Mark Bowen this term.

Reading are on a good run after losing just one of their last five league games and could well make a late charge for the play-offs this season after what has been an inconsistent campaign overall.

Olise is sure to prove crucial towards any play-off charge for the Royals, with the youngster having already shown that he can make a difference in games in the minimal appearances that he has made so far for the first team.
