Reading enjoyed a wonderful season last year and will be heartbroken to have lost in the Play-Off final to Huddersfield.

Like many of the promotion candidates, no one expected the Royals to be anywhere near the Play- Offs ahead of last year, but Jaap Stam managed to guide them to third place, missing out on the Premier League on penalties.

The Royals face a summer of adding gold dust and luxuries to their squad, and will attempt to consolidate and improve on their position in the hope of pushing on to automatic promotion.

One player that Stam should move for this summer is Leicester City's Tom Lawrence, who had an excellent season on loan at Ipswich this year.

Lawrence, now 23, can no longer be called a hot prospect by the Foxes and will likely move away on a permanent basis this summer.

The Royals have an abundance of options out wide and mainly used Roy Beerens, who was signed from Hertha Berlin last summer, wide left this season.

Beerens has disappointed, however, despite a strong start to life in England, and the club will likely pursue other wingers this summer in replacement. This replacement should be Lawrence.

The Welshman (rated at £1.28m on Transfermarkt) scored nine times and made nine assists for Ipswich last year and was one of the most dangerous players in the division.

There will be some strong competition for him this summer as a number of sides vie a move for him this summer, but Reading should snap him up quickly.
