The atmosphere surrounding Reading Football Club is extremely positive as the Royals can look forward to a day out at Wembley, and a punt to play Premier League football once again.

Jaap Stam has won the supporters over, and it's important not to get too ahead of himself, but transfer targets need to be drawn up in the scenario that they do gain promotion to the top-flight via the Championship Play-Off Final.

He is most definitely above his level in the second-tier, however, ex-Reading centre-back Michael Hector may be tempted with a return if they are to go up.

The 24-year-old departed the Madejski Stadium back in 2015 for giants Chelsea but game time became irregular at Stamford Bridge, and as a result he was shipped out on loan to German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

Not only will Stam need a replacement for Reece Oxford, a stronger player who could improve the back line will be required if they are to compete next season in the Premier League and that is what Hector provides.

He's made 21 appearances in Germany's Bundesliga, their top division, but minutes may still be hard to come by in what are now the champions of England - a departure from London isn't out of the question.

Of course, Reading isn't that too far from the capital so it would be unlikely that the Jamaica international would need to relocate and it isn't new to him, more the reason why Michael Hector may decide to return.

More importantly though, the defence looks fragile and could be punished in the top-flight so improvements have to be made and this man should be the first player on the list.
