Steve Clarke’s Reading are set to complete the free transfer of Burnley midfielder Steven Reid in the summer, according to FLW sources.
The 34-year-old has found first-team action hard to get during his time at Turf Moor this season, and he has only managed to accumulate six appearances for Sean Dyche’s side.
Reading have endured a simply dreadful Sky Bet Championship campaign, and they currently sit in 19th place in the league in what has turned out to be a season to forget for the Royals.
Reading boss Steve Clarke has experience of working with Steven Reid during their time at West Bromwich Albion, and FLW understands Clarke is eager to bring an element of grit and experience to the Royals team, and has identified Steven Reid as someone who can be brought in on a free transfer.
The versatile player who can operate as a midfielder or a defender has made appearances for a number of English clubs, having had stints at Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich Albion, and Burnley.
