Brighton striker Sam Baldock will hold discussions with Reading over a switch to the Madejski Stadium with defender Liam Moore possibly going the other way, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Monday 4th June, 10:03AM].
The Seagulls hold a strong interest in Moore, who was voted Reading's Player of the Year, and want to use Baldock as a makeweight in this deal.
Brighton already have established pair Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk on their books, as well as new signing Leon Balogun - who will feature for Nigeria in the World Cup.
But manager Chris Hughton is clearly targeting another centre-half, with Brighton also linked with a £5m swoop for Charlton Athletic youngster Ezri Konsa.
Moore is a top target for the south coast outfit after establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the league in a struggling Reading team.
Brighton are preparing a cash-plus-Baldock bid for the 25-year-old, who has some Premier League experience during his time at Leicester City.
Baldock will now hold talks over a move to Reading after being pushed down the pecking order at Brighton.
The nippy 29-year-old has had his injury problems and was restricted to just two Premier League games this season.
The Verdict
Baldock would be a great signing for Reading, who need a striker like him on their books to put their chances away.
Losing Moore would be a major loss, though, and he would be so difficult to replace.
The Royals must hold out for a large sum for the former England youth international, as well as Baldock coming in too.
