The Championship sides are looking into the possibility of a transfer for the 23-year old, who has scored 30 goals in 98 games for the American club.

Zardes has been attracting the attention of multiple clubs around Europe and Reading and Brighton are the latest clubs thought to be interested in signing the USA international.

The LA Galaxy star has been in fine form this campaign in the MLS, alongside his star-studded team-mates including the likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovanni Dos Santos.

23-year-old Zardes has been linked with Genk and 1860 Munich in the past few days, but Reading are keen to enquire about the striker’s availability with Steve Clarke undoubtedly eager to add to his attacking options after scoring only one goal so far in the Championship.

Meanwhile, the Royals have added Alex Fernandez to their ranks, after securing the former Real Madrid midfielder on loan from Espanyol.
