Polish side Lech Poznan have confirmed on their club’s official website that Deniss Rakels is on the brink of sealing a move to the club.
Dennis Rakels is close to completing a move to Lech Poznan, where he has already agreed a one year contract.
Rakels has taken and passed his medicals and the only thing that needs doing before the move is finalised is for Reading to send over the relevant paperwork.
The deadline for this is at midnight next Monday.
The 24-year-old seems set to secure a permanent exit from Reading after it was made clear to him that he did not feature in Jaap Stam’s plans.
His time in England, since arriving from Cracovia, was marred by injury.
In his debut year for Reading, Rakels popped up with three goals in twelve league games – most of which came from the bench.
However, this year Rakels was limited to just three outings: two of which came in the league.
His final game for Reading was played in August in the EFL Cup.
Lech Poznan now look set to bring the Latvian international striker, who can also operate as a winger, back to Poland.
Initially signing a one year deal, Rakels will have the option to extend his contract with Lech Poznan beyond that.
Rakels now looks set to finally end his spell with Reading, eighteen months after joining the Royals.
