The 29-year-old has been training with Reading for the past few months and is keen to seal a deal that would bring him back to English football following his unsuccessful stint with fellow Championship side, Watford.

Sports Mole reported that the deal had previously been held up due to a contractual dispute between Travner and his current club, FC Baku back in Azerbaijan, however, FLW understand that in the past few days the Berkshire club have moved a step closer to completing the signing.

FLW understands that Travner's contractual issues have been resolved, and having agreed personal terms with the club, the Travner simply awaits international clearance from the FA before completing his move to the Madejski Stadium.

The former Watford and St. Mirren full back will provide cover for Reading's only recognisable left back, Jordan Obita and, with the sale of Shaun Cummings to Millwall just a few days ago, he will no doubt be needed to plug the gap that Cummings' departure has left.

Obita has had a tough time lately on the field and it is hoped that the competition that the imminent arrival of Travner will bring, may help Obita to produce the form that won him Reading's 'Player of the Year' last season.

Over the past few months training with the Royals, Travner has played in some behind closed doors friendlies in order to help him maintain his fitness if he is called upon to aid Reading's faltering league campaign.

Travner will provide some much needed experience (both on and off the field) to a young side that includes Michael Hector, Jordan Obita, Dominic Samuel and Aaron Kuhl.
