Reading midfielder Jem Karacan is targeting a return in pre-season after missing the last nine months with injury, reports getreading.
Karacan has been out of action for near on nine months after rupturing the cruciate ligament in his right knee last September in the 1-0 win against Leeds United
The 25 year old is hoping to join his team-mates at the end of this month for the start of pre-season. “I sat down with Luke Anthony (head of sports medicine) and we looked at targets to see when I can get back. I obviously want to get back for the first day of pre-season.”
He had to make two trips for operation, the second operation made the royals midfielder have virtually no chance in returning to action any time last season.
“There have been a few stumbling blocks, A few months ago when we stepped up the treatment there was a setback, and I needed another operation to go inside and get rid of some of the scar tissue.” said Karacan.
“Since then I’ve been in the gym every day, and just recently stepped up my leg work. It’s been about trying to be patient, it’s tough and a long process, but we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are getting there now, I look forward to the start of pre-season.” he added.
