Andy Yiadom is looking forward to playing under Paul Clement.

The 26-year-old joined Reading from Barnsley as a free agent in an early piece of transfer business. Clement only joined the club in March due to Jaap Stam leaving with the club near the relegation places. Therefore, this is his first signing as Reading boss.

Yiadom will provide Chris Gunter with strong competition, which is good because the Welsh full-back didn't miss a league game in the season that has just finished.

Here's what Yiadom had to say about his move to the official Reading site: "Paul Clement has come here, Reading are a big club. They get it down and play football and that’s something I’m looking forward to doing.

"He’s managed the best. I’m looking forward to going there, learning from him and seeing what I can do to improve my game.

"It’s not dragging out, it’s done nice and early so I’m looking forward to it."

The Verdict

This is a great signing for Reading because he adds depth in a key area as well as providing healthy competition in a key area.

Jaap Stam's influence is still clear to see on this team, so Clement will be determined to make the most of this transfer window in order to bring in players who fit his style of play.

They struggled under him with little upturn in results, although they did stay up, so they need a strong start to show he is the right man for the job.
