Reading midfielder, Adrian Popa is set to depart the club on a permanent deal in the summer according to Sportal BG, via a report from Talk Reading.

The Romanian winger is currently out on loan with Bulgarian giants, Ludogorets and has seemingly made a good impression so far.

Popa has made ten appearances in total in his loan spell with the club, and they are keen to sign him on a permanent deal when Reading’s season reaches a conclusion in the coming weeks.

The 30-year-old has struggled for game time with Reading in recent years, and has seemingly struggled to adjust to the demands of English football.

He’s made just 17 appearances for the Royals across a three-year spell with the Berkshire-based side.

It’s likely that we’ll see a clear out of the ‘deadwood’ at Reading in the summer, as they look to rebuild for next season after surviving for another season in the Championship.

With it being unlikely that many signings will come in, Jose Gomes will be keen to move players on at the earliest of opportunities to free up some room on the wage bill at the Madejski Stadium.

Popa is likely to be one of the first names heading for the exit door at the club and it certainly won’t come as a surprise to see him departing that’s for sure.

The Verdict:

This is the best move for both parties involved.

Popa isn’t going to be getting anywhere near the Reading starting XI anytime soon and it’s good to see the club moving him on ASAP.

He’s made a good impression out on loan but simply isn’t good enough to play in the Championship and has struggled with the physical demands of English football.

The sooner he moves on, the better.
