Reading defender Liam Moore has revealed that he will be staying with the club despite handing in a transfer request earlier in the month.

The centre-back had been attracting a lot of interest from Premier League Brighton, who saw several bids rejected for the player.

That prompted Moore to push for a move, but Reading held firm, insisting that he wouldn't be sold.

Chris Hughton's men have since looked elsewhere for a defender to add to their ranks and are closing in on the signing of Dan Burn.

And, that means Moore will be staying at the Madejski, news he confirmed this afternoon with a very honest statement on twitter.

The former Leicester man explains how the situation was for him and revealed that he had spoken to key figures at the club.

Additionally, he praised his manager Paul Clement along with his teammates for how they have behaved with him, whilst confirming he is looking forward to playing for the club again.

Moore could now be in contention for Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest.

The Verdict

This is great news for Reading and a very classy statement from Moore who comes across very well.

The centre-back obviously wanted to move but the Royals held firm and clearly have a good relationship with the player who will return to the fold.

Now, it's about getting back out on the pitch and delivering the quality performances that ensured he was on the radar of top-flight clubs.
