Modou Barrow has left Turkish side Denizlispor's training camp due to a long-term issue with unpaid wages, according to the print edition of Turkish paper Fanatik.

Barrow is currently on loan at the Turkish side from Championship club Reading and has been an important member of the team this season, making 20 appearances for the club.

According to Fanatik (via Sport Witness), the 27-year-old walked out of his side's training camp before the game against Kayserispor on the weekend and failed to take part in the fixture.

The report suggests that his absence is due to unpaid wages over an extended period.

The club are now thought to be working hard to find the player, and there may be more to come from this particular saga.

Barrow was an important player for the Royals last season as he scored vital last-minute goals against Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town in the relegation battle.

Then manager, Jose Gomes, clearly didn't see him in his plans long-term and decided to loan out the player for the current campaign.

It will be interesting to see what Mark Bowen will decide to do when he returns, as his contract doesn't run out until June 2021.

The Verdict

This must be a horrible issue for Barrow to face at this current moment and there's no wonder he's walked out if the reports are true that he hasn't been paid.

The winger was key for Reading and actually played very well in the final few months of last season, helping the Royals stay in the division.

It will be interesting to see whether he has a future at Reading and whether he can come back to the club sooner rather than later.

It is unknown what the clause in his current loan contract is, but he may well be returning to the Royals quicker than he anticipated.
