Championship strugglers Reading are in pole position to land Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria once again, according to the Sun, via Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old midfielder became a key cog for the Royals last season in a loan spell as he helped the club fight off relegation to League One in excellent fashion.

Ejaria is unlikely to be given his chance at Anfield any time soon, and the thought of a return to the Madejski Stadium is something which would no doubt sit high on his priorities.

The midfielder has long been touted as being one of the better young players to come off the Anfield production line, and despite making a handful of appearances in the Premier League, he has seen more success in loan spells with the likes of Rangers and Sunderland.

His time with Reading last year will be viewed a massive success though, and if the Royals can indeed snap him up once again, then manager Jose Gomes will surely be delighted.

Ejaria brings plenty of energy and quality on the ball to the midfield and with the Royals hoping to avoid a repeat of last seaon's struggles, getting business done early like this will surely only stand them in good stead heading into the 19/20 campaign.

The Verdict

Smart move by Reading this if they can pull it off, bringing a player back who was an important part of a good time in the season for the club.

You can tell with Ejaria that he has had a good footballing background and been coached the right way. It's unlikely he will ever make it fully for Liverpool, so if he can have another good season in the blue and white of the Royals, then it might pave the way for a permanent move in the future.
