Reading are hoping to sign Kortney Hause from Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to a local football journalist.

Wolverhampton-based freelance journalist Tim Nash reports that Reading are interested in Hause and they could sign him on a season-long loan deal.

Reading are in the market for a new centre-back with Liam Moore's future at the club remaining unclear.

Paul Clement is desperate for Moore to remain at the club, despite the 25-year-old handing in a transfer request to force through a move to the Premier League.

Brighton and Hove Albion are said to be keen on the former Leicester City centre-half.

Although Clement would like Moore to stay, he is looking at Hause as a potential replacement.

The 23-year-old is down the pecking order at Wolves and is likely to be surplus to requirements in the Premier League, especially with Nuno Espirito Santo chasing a deal for a centre-back.

The former West Ham United and Wycombe Wanderers defender has played 78 first-team games for Wolves, but managed just four outings last season.

The Verdict

Hause has shown glimpses of his potential and he could be a very good centre-back one day.

But it is probably for the best that he leaves Wolves, at least temporarily, to reignite his stalling career.

At Reading, the former England under-21 international could thrive and take his career to the next level if he performs at a high standard for the Royals next term.
