Reading have had a second offer rejected for Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson, according to HITC Sport.
The former Brentford striker arrived from Griffin Park on a free transfer last summer after snubbing a new deal at the club following their promotion to the Championship – he weighed in with 17 goals that year, scoring 16 in his first year with the Blues.
The striker averaged 17 goals a season over the lsat four years of his career, leading to interest from Steve Clarke and former manager Uwe Rosler, now in charge of Leeds United.
Both the clubs had an initial £500,000 offer rejected by Gary Rowett last week, and it was revealed yesterday that a second, improved offer was to be made by the Royals.
That offer was worth an initial £800,000 plus add ons that could see it rise to £1.6 million – It’s unknown as to whether another offer will be made by either Leeds or Reading.
