Reading FC weighing up move for attacking midfielder as Jaap Stam looks to add to squad

The Reading Chronicle have reported that the Royals are interested in Aldershot Town’s Idris Kanu.

The 17-year-old has made nine outings for Aldershot this season, contributing one goal which came last Saturday in a 2-0 victory at home to Boreham Wood, a win which lifted the Shots up to 9th in the table, however they remain 8 points from the play-off places.

Kanu only joined Aldershot in October, following a trial from English giants Manchester United, and turned down a youth contract with the Red Devils to seek a first team football opportunity.

But it’s a former Man United man Jaap Stam who wants to take him away from the Recreation Ground, and sign him for his Reading squad.

Reading have had a decent start to life under Stam, climbing to 3rd in the Championship table, despite being on the wrong end of a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Fulham last time out.
