The 26-year-old was invited for a trial

with the Royals but seems to have not impressed manager Steve Clarke enough for him to make a move for the Tunisian International.

However, it has been made clear that the club have not ruled out signing the striker in the future

despite not impressing enough on trial.

Akaichi spent his youth career in his native country and began his senior career with  Etoile du Sahel in the Tunisian top flight where he scored a very impressive 25 goals in just 40 games for the club, which earned him a move to Germany with Ingolstadt 04 for whom he appeared for on 25 appearances but only managing 5 goals.

As a result of his struggles, the striker moved back to Tunisia and signed for Esperance de Tunis where he currently plies his trade

and has scored 27 goals in 90 appearances. He also has an impressive 5 goals in just 11 caps for his country.

Reading had a disappointing season last campaign and Steve Clarke will be looking to build a squad that can challenge for promotion with Clarke himself saying after his side's 1-0 defeat to Crawley that he would be surprised if there was no more activity in the transfer window

.

One of the main problems for Reading came with their lack of goals and Akaichi would have certainly provided them with another option upfront with his experience of being able to score goals at each of his clubs, and his very impressive international goalscoring record.
