Reading FC have been hugely impressive since the turn of the year, and under Jose Gomes, the Royals will be a real threat to the Championship next season.

There were fears of relegation earlier in the season, and they looked like they were heading in a downward spiral under Paul Clement.

Since Gomes has come in, the Royals boss has reignited the fight and belief amongst the players and the club's supporters.

One man whose work has often gone unnoticed in the Reading team, is former Barnsley full-back, Andy Yiadom.

But it seemingly hasn't gone unnoticed with the Madejski Stadium faithful, with Yiadom being named in the top three for their Player of the Season.

He is joined by Andy Rinomhota and Yakou Meite in the top three, but Yiadom is surely going to be favourite to scoop the award.

The 27-year-old has hardly put a foot wrong for the Royals this season, and has been a rare bright spark in a relatively disappointing campaign on the whole for the Berkshire-based side.

Since he arrived from Barnsley in (), Yiadom has dislodged Chris Gunter in the starting XI at right-back, in a move which went down well with a large number of the club's supporters.

Yiadom's consistency can't be faulted, and he will be a key player for Jose Gomes' side next season, where they will certainly fancy their chances of a top-half finish if their recent performances are anything to go by.

If he can continue to impress, then it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him being linked with a summer departure, with the full-back now an established Championship defender.

Yiadom will be hoping to finish the season with a strong performance, and a win when the Royals host Birmingham City at the Madjeski Stadium on the final day of the season.
