Reading FC are riding well in the Championship at the moment as they sit in 4th place with 16 games played.

Jaap Stam’s men have won their last three Championship games, and the supporters in Berkshire are now starting to believe that they can return to the top-flight after a four-year absence.

The Dutch boss will be plotting his January targets to make sure they compete against some of the stronger sides in the division, and he needs to strengthen the squad depth if they want to keep up the promotion chase.

There is a large amount of exciting potential in the Football League and a division that is certainly showing promise is League Two this year.

There is a risk that dipping into the League Two market could be a risk, but there are plenty of players who are capable of jumping up two divisions to help guide Reading to the Premier League.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams identifies THREE League Two stars that Reading should take a chance on in January…

Will Norris

The Cambridge United goalkeeper has had an excellent month for the League Two outfit and was in the running for the Player of the Month award in October.

He began the month with a real bang, saving two penalties in second-half added time to ensure his team won a dramatic contest with Accrington Stanley.

The shot-stopper was at it again the following week, saving another spot-kick as the U’s picked up a point on the road at Blackpool.

Norris also played an important role when Shaun Derry’s team triumphed 2-1 away to Exeter.

Even though the Royals have the capable Ali-Al Habsi between the sticks, Norris could certainly provide competition for the Oman international.

Omar Bogle

The Grimsby forward has been in red-hot form in League Two netting nine goals in total and is the Mariners’ top scorer this season.

The striker grabbed five of the Mariners' six goals in League Two in August, and bagged himself the League Two PFA player of the month.

Reading are lacking a prolific striker and Bogle could be the answer to their attacking worries.

Ben Purrington

The Plymouth Argyle left-back has been in great form for the Pilgrims this season, which earned him the PFA Fans’ League Two Player of the Month for October.

He contributed three assists in 13 League Two matches for Plymouth in October and has been integral to Plymouth’s excellent defensive record – conceding just 13 goals in 15 games which sees them four points clear at the top of the table.

At the age of 24, Purrington has time to further improve his game and could bolster Reading’s back four.
