Reading FC are continuing to pursue a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Tomer Hemed ahead of today’s transfer deadline, reports Get Reading.

Jaap Stam is looking to bolster his attacking options at Reading over the course of today, as he aims to once again lead the Royals in search of promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

Sone Aluko arrived at the Madejski Stadium earlier this week from Fulham, but Reading are keen to add more attacking options to their squad over the next 24-hours.

One player seemingly on Reading’s radar is Hemed, who has plenty of experience in the Championship from his time with Brighton on the south coast.

Reports emerged yesterday that Brighton had rejected a significant bid from Reading for Hemed, with the Premier League outfit not willing to sell the Israeli international unless a replacement is found.

However, Reading remain keen to bring the 30-year-old to the Madejski on deadline day, as Stam goes in search of the final piece of his jigsaw.

Hemed has been with Brighton since the summer of 2015, and has gone on to score 31 goals from 93 appearances for the Seagulls across all competitions.

Last year Hemed was part of the Brighton squad that achieved promotion to the Premier League, with the striker scoring 11 goals in the Championship.

The Verdict

Reading’s summer transfer business has been good so far, but it is on the verge of becoming great - if Stam can land a prolific number nine to compete with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Yann Kermorgant.

Hemed would be an excellent addition for the Royals, as he has proved to be more than capable of scoring goals in the Championship, without ever having a consistent run of games in the starting XI.

If Reading get their man, and Stam turns him into the focal point of his attack, the Royals will look a very strong Championship outfit.
