Reading are set to sign Portuguese striker Orlando Sa this week from Legia Warsaw- but he needs to be paired with a quick striker to get the Royals really firing.

I welcome the signing of Orlando Sa with open arms. Yes, he seems to have the reputation of being a bad egg, but I personally don't think Reading will make the same mistake again given the palaver over Roysten Drenthe, so I don't think he'll be that bad.

He seems to be a very good finisher, and what Reading have been needing for the past few years is a lethal finisher. Averaging a goal every 122 minutes last year, and scoring 14 times, he seems a good capture considering he started precious few games during the last year.

But at Reading I feel we have a poor man's Orlando Sa already in Pavel Pogrebnyak, and so a quick partner will be needed to get the most out of him.

I look towards Bournemouth last year as a very strong advocate of this partnership, with Yann Kermorgant and Callum Wilson up front. You had the big, strong, target man in Kermorgant able to hold up the ball and then play it to his racing partner Wilson, which saw the 33-year-old score 15 goals and make 10 assists last year.

Kermorgant wasn't the only one to reap the rewards of the partnership, as Callum Wilson went on to pick up 20 goals and complete seven assists, leading to interest from many Premier League clubs.

Royals fans have grown frustrated over the last two seasons as Pavel Pogrebnyak showed a clear ability to hold up the ball, but he's never had a striker with the speed to make use of it. If Sa can do this (and it seems he'll do it better) we can solve our goalscoring woes ahead of next year.

But this then begs the question, do we already have the perfect partner in reserve? Dominic Samuel is hardly a slow man, and his success at Coventry screams for a shot in the first team.

Samuel would make for great back up, I feel, and hey, he could be an absolute star next year, but we don't 100% know he will be. I therefore think that the answer does lie in searching the transfer market for a forward with the qualities we desire.

With this layout up front, I think Reading will have the means to fire themselves up the table.

Reading fans... What do you make of this idea? Is this the answer to Reading's goalscoring woes? Let us know in the comments below.
