Reading have now suffered three defeats in a row after what had looked like a promising start to the season.

The Royals are really struggling for form at the moment, and as it stands, it's only inevitable that Jose Gomes will be under pressure in the coming weeks if results don't improve.

On Saturday, Gomes' side lost at home for the third time this season to an organised Blackburn side and that caused fans to voice their concern around the stadium just eight games into the new campaign.

It's a problem that the Royals now face as they head into a crucial part of the season against sides that have started very well in the Championship.

They have to keep going with Gomes, though. Chopping and changing managers has got the Royals nowhere and after backing the Portuguese boss in the summer in terms of transfer business, they have to give him time to prove that he can get the best out of his side.

After signing George Puscas and Lucas Joao, there should be enough goals through the attacking areas of the pitch, and it looked like there might be after a brilliant 3-0 victory over Cardiff earlier in the season. However, since then the Royals have struggled to make a breakthrough in fixtures and have only seen victory in games in which they've scored the first goal in.

The thing that the Royals won't want is to be hanging around the bottom six heading into November. Although, it's going to be a tough challenge with their next league fixtures against Swansea, Fulham and Bristol City, all of whom are in the top half after good starts to the season.

A key thing to remember is that teams such as Norwich, who won the league, were in a similar position to Reading last year and managed to turn their season around. Obviously, I'm not saying that the Royals will do that, but it is a relatively new squad with a lot new signings and youngsters so of course it will take time, but fans should not turn on the side this early into the season.

Gomes proved that he deserves a chance after his excellent spell at the end of last season where he rejuvenated the club and kept them in the Championship. It'll be interesting to see if they can regain some form and push up the table or whether the pressure will continue to mount on Gomes.
