According to The Sun, Reading have made a bid of £4m for Brighton and Hove Albion’s striker, Tomer Hemed.

Jaap Stam is keen to add to his Reading squad this summer, with the hope he can lead the Royals back to the Premier League, after taking them within 90 minutes of a return last season.

Yann Kermorgant led the Reading line last season, impressing with 19 goals from 45 appearances, including the decisive strike in the play-off semi-final victory over Fulham.

However, the 35-year-old looks set to miss the start of Reading’s Sky Bet Championship campaign through injury, and Stam is keen to bolster his striking options ahead of another push for promotion.

Hemed has been identified as the man the guide Reading back to the top-flight, and Stam has launched a £4m bid for the striker who helped Brighton achieve their Premier League dream last season.

The 30-year-old scored 11 Championship goals last season, and has found the net on 28 occasions in the league during his two years at the Amex Stadium with Brighton.

Hemed would add to the list of options Stam has available to him at the Madejski Stadium, and as well as competing with Kermorgant next season, he will also be challenging Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who has completed a move to Reading from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
