Jaap Stam has insisted he is focused on helping Reading get to the Premier League, as speculation on his future continues to grow, reports Get Reading.

The Dutchman was one of a number of coaches touted as a potential replacement for under-fire Slaven Bilic, who has endured a disappointing campaign with West Ham United.

Stam admitted it was nice his excellent work at the Madejski Stadium was getting noticed, but insisted his focus is on the Royals, he said: “For now I am thinking about where I am and I am enjoying myself at Reading.

"We are in a good position to end the season well and hopefully we can do that.

"Somebody made me aware of it (the rumour), but that's what happens.

"It happens with players when they are doing well they get linked with other clubs and the same happens with managers.

"For myself, there is no discussion now about leaving. I need to focus on the end of the season with Reading and hopefully doing well and ending up in the top six.”

Reading have flourished under Stam and are currently sat fifth in the Sky Bet Championship, seemingly on course for a Play-Off appearance in May.

A 2-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday, before the international break, opened up a six-point lead over seventh-placed Fulham, and heading into this weekend Stam will be hopeful his side can solidify their place in the top-six.

Leeds United visit the Madejski Stadium on Saturday evening, where Reading will face another difficult test against a Play-Off rival.

Garry Monk’s Leeds are two-points ahead of Reading and currently sit fourth in the Championship table, but Stam's side will leapfrog the Yorkshire side with victory on Saturday.
