Reading are interested in striker Tom Bradshaw and are lining up a summer move for the Barnsley striker.

Despite a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last time out, two consecutive defeats for the Tykes has all but confirmed Reading's status as a Championship club next season.

The Royals are five points ahead of 22nd place and with a superior goal difference may need just a point to confirm safety, although Barnsley don't look capable of winning their remaining two games anyway.

Given that, preparations will already be under way on how Paul Clement can improve the squad for next season and according to Sky Sports Bradshaw is a target for the former Derby boss.

The 25-year old is out-of-favour at Oakwell under new manager Jose Morais who has only started the Welsh international once in the last seven games and the report states that Bradshaw has been told he can leave.

The former Walsall man has hit eight goals in 39 appearances this season, although he has come off the bench for many of them. He cost the Yorkshire side £600,000 back in 2016.

The Verdict

There's no doubt that Reading need a striker, with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson the top-scoring striker on just seven for the Royals this season.

Therefore, you'd have to say Bradshaw would be a positive addition even if he isn't the most prolific. Although, he should be followed by another number nine at the Madejski Stadium as well.

He is an intelligent player with good movement and could excel in a different style and formation under Clement.
