Reading have confirmed that striker Ben House will spend the rest of the season on loan with Swindon Town in League Two.

House is a Scotland Under 20 international who has been catching the eye for the Reading Under 23 side this season.

He's bagged eleven goals in just 16 outings and will now get a chance at senior football in the basement division with the Robins.

The 19-year old has played in two senior matches, albeit for Reading's Under 21 side in the EFL Trophy last season against Colchester and Southend.

He grabbed his first senior goal on his debut against Colchester as the two sides drew 2-2.

Swindon are 14th in League Two having experienced a turbulent start to the season. They dismissed manager Phil Brown in the lead up to Christmas, bringing in former Blackpool midfielder Ritchie Wellens, with ex-Reading striker Noel Hunt as his assistant.

House is now likely to be involved in their League Two match against Macclesfield Town this weekend, with both sides eliminated from the FA Cup and able to play a league fixture.

The Verdict

There's a lot to like about Ben House, scoring on his senior debut and performing well for the Under 23 side as well.

There's a big difference between youth football and senior outings though and League Two is an unforgiving arena with little time on the ball afforded to young players.

If he's going to develop into the player Reading hope he will, he needs this exposure to proper football.
